Spring is a lovely time to see young baby birds flying around
Birds are negatively affected by Pesticides -which poison earthworms , killing their major food source, in turn reducing populations of birds and mammals that feed on them
Pesticides endanger bird populations by poisoning and reducing their safe habitats for nesting and offspring

Simple changes = weeding without chemicals can make the world of a difference to a birds life !
With their investigative nature ,new birds are bound to wander onto our streets and pavements where councils routinely use pesticides to treat the street weeds .
If you truly want to protect the birds -you would stop allowing continued use of a chemical which poisons their food source and habitat
Let your council know you would prefer safe alternatives were used.
Balerno became Pesticide Free in 2020 and in the same year over 80% of Balerno residents reported seeing an increase of bees and butterflies and many other kinds of biodiversity in the area!
We in Balerno can be proud that these baby birds are being born into a Pesticide Free environment
