Edinburgh Council (and most other UK councils...) are due to start applying the KNOWN HARMFUL TO HEALTH CHEMICAL GLYPHOSATE where you live, walk your dogs and kids play-simply to remove weeds! (Except Balerno)
Unless you are at your window 24/7 you are unlikely to be aware that this invisible poison is being applied nearby where you live, where you walk or where your children & pets play -simply for weed control across Edinburgh So please don’t think someone else will do this for you - we all need to speak up if we want to protect those who need us to

GLYPHOSATE is the chemical chosen by Edinburgh Council, despite concerns linking human and animal illness to local applications .
There are safe ways to remove weeds and safe alternatives are already used successfully here in the U.K. and worldwide.
Not only safe to use around humans and animals, but better for the AND cheaper and more effective !
Communities from every postcode across Edinburgh have made it clear to Council that YES they want the WEEDS REMOVED but done so SAFELY and not at the expense of our kids, pets , our own health or the future health of the planet we are supposed to be protecting
In 2015
WHO named Glyphosate ‘a probable carcinogen ‘
In 2019
After serious concerns were raised in Balerno (Chronic coughs, Asthma, Dog illness, bee death, property damage)Council agreed that Balerno was to stop having Glyphosate applied.
Balerno has been pesticides free since 2020 Why are other concerned communities not ??
There has been successful legal cases against Glyphosate with caseloads of litigation pending ££££ linking this chemical to many human & animal health issues
In this day & age where ‘sustainability’ ‘eco’ and environment are top on the agenda and very well funded by councils and government, why do we continue to use this chemical to treat weeds which may destroy our health, soil, water and air?
Before it’s too late we recommend signing , sharing the petition & emailing Edinburgh council ASAP letting them know you do not want harmful chemicals used outside your house, street or area
Ask that Safe Alternatives are used instead to remove the weeds
Share the poster with your local libary , community centre and schools...
